Proposal: A Location – Past and Present: Japanese Toy Stores

Introduction:

For my art project, I have chosen to delve into the intriguing world of Japanese toy stores. With a focus on their history, visual significance, and cultural impact, I aim to conduct a research and create a series of illustrations that blend elements of Japanese toys with fashion silhouettes. This proposal outlines my plan for gathering information, conducting research, and creating the final womenswear collection.

Research Objectives:

The primary objective of this project is to explore the cultural significance of Japanese toys and toy stores. Specifically, I will the changing appearances of Japanese toy over time, and the products sold in toy stores. I will also examine the relationship between users and toys, as well as the impact of technology and innovation on toy vending machines within stores.

Research Methods:

To achieve these objectives, I will employ a combination of online research, visits to Japanese toy stores, and reference materials. Online articles and books will serve as valuable resources for understanding the development of Japanese toys and their visual transformations throughout history. Additionally, I will personally visit Japanese toy stores to immerse myself in the environment and gain primary resources into the products.

Market Level and Target Customers:

The art collection inspired by Japanese toy stores will be positioned at the accessible luxury level, appealing to young working females who appreciate artistic fashion and quality of life. The collection offers high-quality, well-crafted pieces at an affordable price level. Strategic marketing efforts will focus of target audience through social media adverts and collaborations with influencers. 

Expected Outcomes:

The expected outcome of this project is a series of illustrations that blend ready-to-wear and couture fashion with elements inspired by Japanese toys. The collection will include various garments such as 2 jackets, 3 long-sleeved tops, 1 short-sleeved top, 1 tube top, 1 bodysuit, 2 shorts, 3 long pants, 2 skirts, and 1 pair of leg warmers.

By integrating elements from Japanese toys into fashion design, these illustrations will capture the essence of the “A Location – Past and Present: Japanese Toy Stores” theme. The outcome will showcase the visual appeal of the designs and at the same time present a well-blend between fashion and toys.

Conclusion:

In conclusion, this proposal outlines my plan to explore the world of Japanese toy stores through thorough research and the creation of a fashion illustration series. By investigating the history, visual changes, and cultural impact of Japanese toys, I aim to produce a collection that blends fashion design with elements inspired by these toys.
